Our trip to Lake Placid for the I Love BBQ festival is confirmed. This was Joe and I's first bbq fest together last year. Pulling into Lake Placid you come to a red light, and straight across from there is the Northway Hotel. The Northway is the very edge of town where we love to stay. You can walk into town and it's a 5 minute walk to the festival. Wake up and go to sleep with the smells of the wood smoking and the food cooking. Love it.
Last year we met BBQ teams from all over. We met Andy King who is the pit boss of The Bastey Boys Barbecue Brigade. He had great advice and welcomed talking to us newcomers. We had sampled some Ribs from Crazy Herbs Texas Barbecue and they were delicious. The festival provides tickets for you for a dollar a Rib and the community gets to vote on there favorites. Bastey Boys had the ribs by far! We tried the Potato Ribbon Nachos and talk about being full!  Great food, great music in a perfect town where you feel you have reached Heaven! Can't get any better than this!

I had purchased some smoked salt. The man who makes it gave me by far my all time favorite summertime grilling recipe! I think i'll share.

Grilled Romaine Salad
Romaine Lettuce Heads
Olive Oil
Smoked Salt
Balsamic Vinegar

Cut Romain heads in half lengthwise and lightly oil the inside leaves. Grill until they start to have marks, remove from grill drizzle with balsamic sprinkle with smoke salt.
SIMPLE but sooo good! Full of flavor and makes the perfect side to any summertime grilled foods! Enjoy.

Stay tuned for this years Adventure.
